Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo can play until he is 40 years old, according to Portugal national team Coach Fernando Santos.
The manager who helped Portugal win the European Championship does not expect the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star to ‘lower his level’ of performance despite his age.
Ronaldo, 35, has scored 101 goals for the national side and has continued to impress at Juventus since his move in July 2018, scoring 68 times in 91 competitive games with the Bianconeri and already added 10 to his impressive tally of 130 goals in the Champions League.
“Cristiano is ready to play until he’s 40, but he doesn’t know if it will happen,” Santos told TVI24. “At some point he may feel that he no longer has the same conditions. He’s not a player who will lower his level, when he feels like he can’t be Ronaldo, he won’t.”
Ronaldo scored three times in the 2020-21 Serie A season and will be looking to add to his tally when Juventus face Napoli on October 4.
