Luis Suarez inspired Atletico Madrid to a comprehensive 6-1 win against Granada during a LaLiga fixture on Sunday inside the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano.
Diego Simeone started Diego Costa ahead of new signing from Barcelona Suarez while Diego Martinez played Super Eagles star Ramon Azeez alongside Yangel Herrera and Luis Milla in midfield.
Costa repaid the faith of the manager with the first goal of the encounter and the former UEFA Champions League finalist missed the opportunity to make it 2-0 when Saul Niguez failed to convert a penalty as the first half ended 1-0.
Suarez said in his post-match interview: “I’m very happy about the debut and the win.”
Atletico dominated the game and made it extremely difficult for Azeez to create chances from midfield. Angel Correa and Joao Felix scored quick fire goals to make it 3-0. Suarez came on as substitute in the 70th minute for Diego Costa and immediately created a chance which Marcos Llorente dispatched with aplomb in the 72nd minute.
