Kia Havertz scored a hat-trick as Chelsea wallop Barnsley 6-0 in the third round of the Carabao Cup encounter at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

Frank Lampard hands a debut to Thiago Silva as his side look to bounce back from their Premier League defeat by Liverpool on Sunday.

Kia has shaken off the disappointment of his first two appearances for Chelsea to put Barnsley to the sword.

Tammy Abraham gets the first goal of the game to put Chelsea up front in the 19th minutes after pinches the ball from the edge of the area, turns and fires the ball into the back of the net.

The Blues make it two as Havertz makes his mark with a left-footed finish after Mount cuts play the ball through to Abraham before he leaves the ball to trickle through to his new team-mate to scored.

Ross Barkley springs into action and picks up the ball at the top of the box, pushes it to the right, and fizzes it by Collins into the bottom right to 3-0 four minutes into the second half.

The 21-year-old Germany international gets his brace in the 55th minutes after Kovacic pounces and plays it into Abraham in the center of the box before the Nigerian descent flicks it back to a running Havertz who fires it into the back of the net.

Havertz then completed his hat trick in a 10-minute flurry, the first coming from a lovely Abraham layoff and the second from a pass behind the defense that he played between Collins’ legs before rolling into an empty net.

Giroud converted a diving header to put the finishing touch on a comprehensive victory at Stamford Bridge.
