After firing blanks in Napoli’s last friendly, Victor Osimhen and his Italian club were at the weekend denied another chance to fine-tune their preparations for the new season with another friendly this time against Portuguese side Sporting CP.
Osimhen who had scored hat tricks in his first two outings for Napoli could not do the same in the third friendly but many had expected that a good outing against Sporting CP will be good for his confidence going into the season-opening clash away to Parma.
However, Napoli via their official twitter handle revealed they had to call off the friendly against Sporting CP because some players with the Portuguese club tested positive for COVID-19.
Napoli on their website also wrote: “SSC Napoli announces that the friendly match with Sporting Clube del Portugal, scheduled at 20.30 in Italy, has been canceled due to the positive Covid-19 of some players of the Portuguese Club.”

There is no indication if Napoli would find a replacement or would make do with the three test matches they have played so far.
