Super Eagles striker, Henry Onyekuru caused a stir in Turkey on Sunday after he ruled out any exit from AS Monaco this summer, Milliyet can report.
The former Everyone striker made one assist in Monaco 2-0 win over AZ Alkmaar in Saturday’s international friendly. He then took to his Twitter account to declare his readiness to stay back the Principles and fight for starting shirt at the club.
Onyekuru’s transfer has continued to take different twists and turns after Galatasaray chieftains had a nocturnal meeting with Monaco eggheads to deliberate the player’s future on Saturday.
Although, details of the meetings have not been made public, but Onyekuru new found love for Monaco is a major cause for worry for Gala coach Fatih Terim and club fans who craved for his return.
“I am very happy to be back in Monaco. I hope we will continue to work well and come to the best point. I am in a great team. I have no intention of leaving.” he said.
The former Eupen petit striker has been the subject of transfer war between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray and his return to Turkey was highly anticipated following a successful debut with Gala.
The 23 years-old joined Everton from Belgian outfit Eupen in 2017, but couldn’t kick a ball as Toffees failed to secure a work permit for the fleet-footed striker. He was then forced to join Anderlecht on loan in his first year and later to Galatasaray the following season.
He joined Monaco on a five-year deal last summer where he played four league games before returning to Turkish giants Galatasaray on a short-term loan in January transfer.
