Leon Balogun former teammate at Brighton & Hove Albion, Lewis Dunk is subject of a £40m transfer deal to Chelsea.
The Nigerian did not enjoy his time at Brighton and moved on loan to Wigan before making a permanent switch to Scottish side Rangers on a one-year deal with an option for a further year.
However, the player that ensured Balogun was not a regular at Brighton is Dunk and the club captain is wanted by Frank Lampard as he looks to fortify his defence ahead of the 2020/2021 season.
According to The Sun, Chelsea are desperate to complete the signing of the 28-year-old, who is a boyhood fan of the West Londoners but face competition from Tottenham Hotspur for his services.
Dunk has made made a total of 306 appearances in all competitions for Brighton since he broke into the first team in 2009.
