Erstwhile Portsmouth defender, Sam Sodje believe Super Eagles gaffer, Gernot Rohr stands to benefit much from Leon Balogun’s move to Glasgow Rangers.
Speaking from his base in London, the former Super Eagles defender pointed out that Rohr and indeed Nigerians must be in cloud nine to see one of their best centre back enjoying regular football again.
He stressed that such a laudable move to a historical club like Rangers will help Balogun achieve stability in his game and most importantly accumulate first-team game experience.
The former Skoda Xanthi strongman said Balogun will definitely regain his full fitness, which would in turn help reposition Super Eagles defensive line.
” I think it’s a great stability move for Leon, especially playing for a historical club like Rangers,” begins Sodje
“It will help him accumulate first-team game experience and that can only be good for Super Eagles having a fitter player for selection
” I’m happy for him and I wish him good luck,” said Sodje who is regarded as Nigeria’s top three scoring defenders of all time after he netted a whopping 32 goals while playing for Super Eagles.
Rangers completed the signing of Nigeria international on a one-year deal following his departure from Wigan.
