Former Manchester United forward, Alexis Sanchez has been ruled out of the Europa League semifinals clash against Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Chile international was diagnosed with a thigh injury after the Serie A side squeezed past Bundesliga team Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 in Germany.
A statement from Inter read: “Alexis Sanchez underwent medical tests this morning in Duisburg after suffering an injury during our match against Bayer Leverkusen.
“The tests confirmed that he has suffered a strain in his right hamstring. His condition will continue to be reassessed over the next few days.”
If Inter Milan win and make the final and Manchester United beat Sevilla in the second semifinal, Sanchez may have the opportunity of playing against the Red Devils if he recovers on time.
Sanchez has contributed four goals and 11 assists in 31 appearances for Inter this season, but they are accustomed to persevering without him.
