Former Manchester United manager Laurent Blanc is tipped to Barcelona next manager, according to the report in Spanish media.
The Catalan club is keen on appointing Blanc for just a season while they wait for Xavi Hernandez’s availability, who is considered as the club’s first choice manager.
Xavi wants to honour his contract with Al-Sadd where he gained his first managerial experience after a brief stint with the club as a player.
The former Barcelona captain was tipped to replace Ernesto Valverde but Xavi turned down the offer in January, he was not interested in taking the job in the midseason.
Barcelona is expected to part ways with Quique Setien after the former Real Betis manager failed to deliver the La Liga title this season.
Setien will be in charge of the team for the remainder of the season and once the Champions League is over a new manager will be reinstated.
Spanish outlet Sport claims that Blanc’s name has been mentioned in the boardroom as a stopgap, despite being out of work since leaving PSG in 2016.
Blanc played for Barcelona for just a season before he left for Marseille, Inter Milan and then Manchester United.
