Victor Osimhen’s impending big-money transfer to Napoli is a massive opportunity for the striker and his family financially, a top official of Lille has said.
It has been reported that the transfer could cost as much as 81 million Euros with the player signing a five-year contract that will fetch him at least four million Euros a year.
“For him and his family, this (transfer) can be an exceptional opportunity,” remarked Lille general manager Marc Ingla and reported by ScoreNigeria.
“We must not only consider the amount of the transfer, but also the salary that is offered to the player.”
Ingla was also not ashamed to admit that Lille are a selling club.
“We are not hiding our economic model,” he said.
“We are not a final destination (for players). With us, players thrive. We use their talent. But we also build their careers. It is the life of a club and the market.”
Lille have moved quickly to get a direct replacement for Osimhen who would most likely be Canada international Jonathan David from KAA Gent of Belgium.
Top agent Mogi Bayat and the CEO of LOSC met Wednesday in Belgium with top officials of Gent on the Jonathan David.
The centre-forward has agreed personal terms with the northern French club for a contract covering five seasons.
Lille have tabled a bid of € 25 million, but Gent are yet to agree even though a conclusion is expected soon.
