Chelsea could face competition from Real Madrid in the race to sign Bayern Leverkusen attacker Kai Havertz, according to report.
Real Madrid is working on a swap deal for the 21-year-old which could be a big blow to Frank Lampard’s plans, the Blues manager Frank Lampard is interested in signing the German star, following the arrivals of Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner from Ajax and RB Leipzig, respectively.
Havertz has been on the list of many top clubs in Europe but they are unable to meet his £90million price tag for the attacking midfielder due to the impact of coronavirus.
Real Madrid has come with a way to strike a deal with the Bundesliga outfit and according to German transfer expert Christian Falk, Los Blancos are trying to negotiate a player-swap deal with Leverkusen.
“Leverkusen is a question of money,” Falk told the Football Ranks podcast. “Bayern Munich won’t pay it. Barca won’t pay it. Real Madrid is trying to do a swap deal at the minute.
However, Leverkusen would prefer to take all a full-cash offer.
“But if one of the English clubs is going to pay it then good,” Falk added.
Real Madrid will guarantee Champions League football and Havertz will like to play in the big stage of the European club competition.
