There seems to be a tiny light at the end of the tunnel despite twists and turns that has characterized Osimhen impending move to Napoli.
Corrierodellosports reported on Wednesday that the last aspect of the negotiation between Osimhen’s camp and De Laurentiis have been formalised with dates for medical and official unveiling already picked.
Osimhen who is now referred to as the “chosen One” in Naples was spotted inside a yacht belonging to Lille’s president, Gerard Lopez had an extensive second meeting with De Laurentiis to discuss his future.
De Laurentiis is bent on signing the Lille’s striker as one of Napoli’s attacking options and has been tipped as Milik’s heir who will have to grow, and follow Mertens’ footsteps.
Talks were centred on personal terms and assurances of playing time for Osimhen.
Osimhen is one of the most sought after strikers in Europe following an exceptional debut season for Lille.
The 21-year-old who joined the Great Danes from Sporting Charleroi last summer scored 13 goals in Ligue 1 and added five more in Cup competitions to finish as Les Dogues’ top scorer with 18 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions. He also weighed in with six assists.
He was recognised as Lille’s standout performer in the just-concluded season and was voted the club’s Player of the Season.
Osimhen’s outstanding performances also saw him awarded the Marc Vivien Foe award for the best African player in the French topflight – becoming the youngest winner of the award.
