Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho will be too expensive for Arsenal, according to reports.
The Barcelona star who spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich is surplus to requirement at Camp Nou with the Catalan giants offering him to the Gunnars and Newcastle United.
Barcelona want to sell Coutinho to raise funds for Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez who will cost about £100m. Already Barcelona players are hoping the Argentine joins the club.
“He’s a truly great player. He’s been playing at a very high level for Inter,” Luis Suarez told Sport about the 22-year-old.
“It’s not easy to move to Italy from Argentina and show everything he has in a league as difficult as the Italian one. He’s young and we’ll try to help him if he comes to Barca, to adapt and make him feel comfortable.”
The Mirror claims that Arsenal are not in a position to pay upwards of £60m in a transfer fee, while Coutinho’s substantial wages would be an issue for the North London club.
