Nigeria’s U-23 Captain, Azubuike Okechukwu has agreed a 4-year deal with Turkish club Istanbul Baseksehir, according to reports.
The 23-year-old joined the league leaders on loan from Egyptian side, Pyramids FC and enjoyed a successful season with manager Okan Buruk desperate to keep him at the club.
‘Everything has been agreed after fruitful contract talks and Azubuike will pen a 4-year deal with Istanbul Baseksehir,’ a source close to the player was quoted as saying by SportingLife.
‘Azubuike is extremely happy about the deal and it brings rest of mind because he can concentrate now on helping the club win the Turkish Super Lig. He hopes to repay the confidence of the coach who wanted to keep him at all cost.
‘He is a talented midfielder and knows Turkish football very well, having played for Rizespor and Yeni Malatyaspor previously.’
Baseksehir are currently top of the league with 66 points with seven matches left to the end of the season.
