Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has sent a warning to Real Madrid after the 4-1 win against Villarreal at the Ceramica on Sunday.
The defender insisted that Barcelona won’t give up their pursuit on the La Liga title having closed the gap on Real Madrid at the top of the table back to four points with a 4-1 win over Villarreal.
“We don’t like being behind and we’re going to fight to turn the situation around,” Pique said at full time at the Estadio de la Ceramica. “Being at this club means fighting until the end.”
Barcelona looked a different team from recent matches, so what changed?
“There are various factors, the system being one of them,” Pique said.
“With this system, the front three are more central and closer to the penalty area and the goal.
“The fact that [Antoine] Griezmann scored a goal is also important as it gives him confidence.
“But I’m sure our opponents will watch [the match] on video and they’ll be prepared.
“We’ve been playing with the same system for a while and the boss is looking for new things.”
Barcelona will be up against Espanyol on Wednesday at the Camp Nou while Real Madrid will welcome Alves to the Alfredo di Stefano Stadium on Friday.
