Barcelona defeated Villarreal 4-1 to close the gap on La Liga leaders Real Madrid following a brilliant display from Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann and Ansu Fati at the La Ceramica Stadium on Sunday evening.
Barcelona got off to the flying start in the game many thought it would pose a threat on them considering the seven points gap between the Champions and the La Liga toppers.
Villarreal defender Pau Francisco Torres was forced to score an own goal following pressure from Antoine Greiezmann in the 3rd minute of the clash as Barcelona took the early lead.
Villareal star Gerard Moreno made it 1-1 for the home team after he slotted the ball into a guided net with just 14 minutes of play.
Luis Suarez announced his name with a slam after the Uruguayan attacker put the ball into the back of the net with a nice move to make it 2-1 in favour of the away team.
It was Griemann that scored a beautiful lob over Villarreal helpless goalkeeper to make it 3-1 for the La Liga Champions before the end of the first half of the encounter.
Ansu Fati scored the fourth goal for Barcelona to make it 4-1 from a wonderful display, his shot was well-timed and well taken.
With the result, Barcelona close the gap to four points as the Catalans maintain the second place on the La Liga table.
