Real Madrid return to the top of La Liga following a hard fought 1-0 win over Espanyol on Sunday night.
The Los Blancos went into the game in second position after Barcelona drew 2-2 against Celta Vigo on Saturday and led the log with one point. Brazilian midfielder Casimero returned to the line-up after missing the win over Mallorca due to suspension.
Espanyol needed a win as to as desperately trying to avoid relegation and tool the game to Real Madrid but it was the 13-time European Champions that found a breakthrough through Casimero who expertly gave the Zinedine Zidane side a first half lead.
The second half saw a lot of changes but no goals were scored as it finished 1-0 in favour of Real Madrid.
The Los Blancos have now returned to the summit with 71points, two above second placed Barcelona while Espanyol is rock bottom.
