Luiz Suarez scored a brace for Barcelona but it wasn’t enough for the three points as they drew 2-2 against Celta Vigo inside the Abanca Balaidos stadium.
The Catalan giants knew a win will give them a slight advantage in the race for La Liga title before Real Madrid play Espanyol on Sunday and took the lead after a brilliant freekick from Lionel Messi was headed in by Luis Suarez.
However, Russia international Fedor Smolov equalised early in the second half with a simple tap-in. But Barcelona reclaimed the lead with another goal from Suarez and again assisted by Messi.
Celta won a freekick on the edge of the Barcelona box and former Liverpool forward Iago Aspas stepped up and curled it home in an 88th-minute to break the hearts of the visitors fans while Madrid fans jubilation.
The draw gives Barcelona 69 points while Celta Vigo sit 16th with 34points. Real Madrid are second on 68points and a game in hand.
