Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa transfer record from GBS Football Academy to Al Nassr.
The 27-year-old Nigeria international began his footballing career in Jos, Plateau State with GBS Football Academy before he signs his first professional contract with Juth FC, a team in his homeland’s National League, where he played 18 games, scoring four goals in his first professional seasons for the Healers.
Musa was subsequently loaned to Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) former champions Kano Pillars the following year where he set the league record by scoring 18 goals as Masu Gida finished second in the log table.
Super Eagles winger held the record for the highest goals ever scored in one season in the history of the NPFL until November 2011, when Jude Aneke of Kaduna United set a new record of 20 goals.
Dutch Eridivisie side VVV Venlo come calling a year later, where he made his debut on his 18th birthday against FC Groningen on 30 October.
During his two years stint in Holland, Musa was in the Nigeria side which won the West African Football Union Cup and also participate 2011 FIFA U20 World Cup in Columbia with Flying Eagles where he scored three goals in five matches as he was included in the shortlist of 10 candidates for the Adidas Golden Ball, which was awarded to the most outstanding player of the tournament.
In September VVV-Venlo chairman Hai Berden disclosed on Eredivisie Live that he had turned down a last-minute bid of €10 million euros for Musa from the unnamed Bundesliga side.
On 7 January 2012, Musa signed for CSKA Moscow for an undisclosed fee but in his four seasons in the Eastern European nation he was a key player and regular scorer for Red-blue where he won three Russian Premier League titles, two Russian Super Cups and the Russian Cup.
Musa made his debut for the Super Eagles in a qualification match for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations against Madagascar on 5 August 2010 where he came on as a substitute for John Obi Mikel in a 2-0 win.
He was also member Nigeria side under tutelage late Stephen Keshi which lifted the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations for the third-time also represented his country in 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup where he started in all three of the team’s matches as they were eliminated in the group stage.
Musa make his first World Cup appearances in the 2014 tournament in Brazil and he scored two goals in Super Eagles final Group F fixture in the 3-2 defeat to Argentina.
Musa sign for Leicester City for for a club record £16.6 million and enjoyed a promising start where he scored his first goals for the Foxes in a friendly against Barcelona in the 2016 International Champions Cup which ended in a 4–2 loss.
However, Nigeria international could not much impact during his one year and half at the King Power Stadium where manage to score five goals after featuring 33 times in all competition before being loaned back to CSKA Moscow in January 2018.
Musa became the first Nigerian to score more than once in a FIFA World Cup matches after scoring twice against Argentina in the 2014 tournament in Brazil and brace in the 2-0 victory over Iceland in the group stage of 2018 competition in Russia.
The pacy winger linked up with Al Nassr from Leicester City in 2018 where has gone to score nine goals from 48 matches and lift Saudi Premier League title and Saudi Super Cup, both in 2019.
Last summer, Musa he represented his nation in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations as he became the third most capped player for Nigeria’s national team with 91 surpassing Nwankwo Kanu and 10 behind Joseph Yobo and Vincent Enyeama who are both joint leading international appearance for the three-time African Champions.
