Ogenyi Onazi has revealed that he might play in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) before hanging his boot.
The 27-year-old Nigeria international who has 52 caps for the three-time African Champions, was left out of the Super Eagles squad that finished third at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt after failing to recover in time from an Achilles injury.
Onazi who recently returned from a 10-month injury currently plays for Denizlispor whom he joined in 2020 from Trabzonspor.
However, former Lazio midfielder never featured in the NPFL despite spell with El Kanemi Warriors and My People FM.
“There is the possibility because right now the NFF are trying their best and they can do better. There are other African leagues that are even doing more.”
“It’s not a bad option, one can come back home and do something. I don’t mind I think I an someone who can do that.”
Onazi has won 52 capped for Super Eagles and one goal in the process after featuring in two Africa Cup of Nations and two FIFA World Cup.
