Barcelona want to replace Junior Firpo with Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico at the end of the season.
Firpo has failed to step up his game since his switch from Real Betis to the Camp Nou last season.
The report in Spanish journals Mundo Deportivo claimed that Ajax is willing to entertain a deal for the Argentine left-back after blocking his departure in the winter transfer market.
The defender’s contract with the Dutch club will expire in 2022 and Ajax is under no pressure to part ways with the Argentine defender with a report suggesting that they could demand a fee in the region of £30million.
Atletico Madrid is also interested in the services of the Ajax defender and Diego Simeone’s men could give Barcelona a good run for their money in the race to snap up the Argentine from the Johan Cruff Stadium.
He was linked with Atletico Madrid last summer but ended up staying with the Eredivisie champions.
Barcelona could make major clear out next season with the likes of Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic, Nelson Samedo, Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti could be shown the exit door at the Camp Nou.
The Camp Nou directors are also willing to re-sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain in a bid to reduce the burden on Lionel Messi.
