Big for Chelsea as transfer target Alessio Romagnoli set to be given a new contract by AC Milan according to a report from Italy.
The 25-year-old Italy international, whose current deal at San Siro will expire in the summer of 2022, has allegedly been identified by Frank Lampard as a potential target ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.
However, according to Calciomercato claim that AC Milan are fighting to convince the central back pen an extension with the Serie A giants, which would effectively end Chelsea pursuit of signing the Rossoneri skipper for the foreseeable future.
Romagnoli joined AC Milan from Roma in the summer of 2015 and has made 181 appearances for his current side, including 29 in all competitions during the current season.
Chelsea could be in the market for a new centre-back this summer with Andreas Christensen being tipped to leave Stamford Bridge end of the season.
