Barcelona target Lautaro Martinez has snubbed a contract extension with Inter Milan in a bid to stand in an advantageous position to negotiate a deal to quit the Serie A giants.
Barcelona is keen on signing a replacement for ageing Luis Suarez, who turned 33-years-old in January.
Martinez is Barcelona’s prefered option to replace the Uruguayan attacker but the Catalonia club faces competition from Real Madrid and Manchester City respectively for the signature of the Argentine attacker.
Inter Milan is also doing all they can to ensure the attacker remains at San Siro beyond 2023 when his contract runs out.
Inter Milan is willing to offer him a salary rise in a bid to tie him to the club for a longer period than 2023 which is stated in his current deal.
Martinez has been reluctant to extend his contract with the interest from Barcelona and other clubs enticing him to quit the Serie A outfit for an adventure in Spain or England.
