Former Super Eagles defender Ifeanyi Udeze has sent a message to Odion Ighalo to return to Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua to collect £400,000 per week new deal and dumped Manchester United.
The 30-year-old 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Golden boot winner arrived Old Trafford on January transfer deadline day and has made a big impact with the former Premier League Champions.
Manchester United are reportedly willing to make Ighalo transfer move permanent at the end of the season but Nigerian striker expected to take a pay cut for the transfer to materialise when his loan deal expires in the summer.
Shanghai Shenhua are however not prepared to lose one of their prized assets easily and have offered him a new contract worth £400,000 per week.
“At 31, what’s left? Who does he need to impress? No one – I will jump at the Shanghai’s offer immediately, Udeze told Brila FM
“£400,000 is a lot of money and Manchester United cannot afford to match that amount, so, for me, I will accept Shanghai’s deal.”
Udeze started his career with Bendel Insurance before spell at AO Kavalas, PAOK Thessaloniki, West Bromwich Albion AEK Athens and PAOK FC.
The 39-year-old featured 35 times for Super Eagles plus two African Cup of Nations and 2002 World Cup in Korea/Japan.
