Chelsea is ahead of fellow Premier League rivals Arsenal in the race to sign Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.
Chelsea and Arsenal are in the race to the Umtiti in the summer and the Blues have made a substantial move to sign the World Cup winner.
Mundo Deportivo reported that Chelsea has approached Umtiti already had they not been under the transfer ban imposed by UEFA.
Barcelona is opened to the deal as the La Liga giants are open to the deal as they are prepared to sell the defender at the end of the current campaign.
Chelsea is in touch with Umtiti’s agent Arturo Canales to sound him out over a move.
Umtiti, 26, would prefer to remain at Barcelona, but is open to moving to a club playing Champions League football, and has a preference for Chelsea over Arsenal and Manchester United, who have also been offered his services.
Barcelona would only listen to offer for the centre-back at the end of the season provided the suitors to meet the £46million valuation.
Barcelona is also keen on selling the likes of Ivan Rakitic, Nelson Samedo, Arturo Vidal and Junior Firpo.
The Catalan giant would also make some reinforcement with the likes Paris Saint-Germain attacker Neymar and Inter Milan Lautaro Martinez on the shopping list.
