Former Nigeria midfielder has flown back to England after he was released by the Trabzonspor directors following his comment about the Super Lig directors who chose to continue the League when people are taking severe measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Mikel was surprised about the decision of the Turkish League organizer not to stop the league when major European League has stopped their respective leagues to stop[ the spread of the coronavirus.
Champions League and the Europa League were suspended and even the Euro 2020 was shifted to the summer of 2021 as result of the outbreak.
Mikel contract was terminated as a result of his stance against the wish of the league organizers in Turkey.
Mikel revealed he might decide to sign for another English team.
“I hope (there will be offers from elsewhere). I hope I will be back out on the pitch once everything is settled and everyone is back at work, everything is back to normal, Mikel told the Athletic.
I want to be out there as soon as possible. But we have to defeat this virus first.
“I am looking forward to my next chapter. I don’t know where it’s going to be.
I want to be closer to home, somewhere in England maybe. But we will see what happens. The best option is where I will go.
“In the meantime, my girls will help keep me fit! I will be in the gym too, and if I can, I will do some running outside.”
He would be signed by another club soon, guess his agent are working tirelessly on that.
