Forgotten Super Eagles striker Anthony Nwakaeme scored 10th goal of the season in the Trabzonspor 3-1 big win over Yeni Malayaspor in the Turkish Super Lig at Malatya Arena.

The 30-year-old striker without a goal or assist in his last two league outings, lined up for the 23rd time this season with compatriot Mikel Obi dropping to the bench for the visitors.

Filip Novak opened the scoring in the 10th minutes before Jose Sosa makes it 2-0 to put Trabzonspor in driving seat.

The hosts, Yeni Malayaspor however, reduced the deficit just before half time with a strike from Umut Bulut to set up an interesting second 45 minutes.

Nwakaeme who was in action for 90 minutes, restored his team two goals lead in the 55th minute to make it 3-1 and seal their 15th win of the campaign.

Meanwhile, former Super Eagles midfielder Mikel was also in action for Trabzonspor, as they extend their unbeaten run in all competitions to 17 games.

The win now sees Trabzonspor reclaim top spot from Istanbul Basaksehir on just goal difference with both teams having 52 points after 25 games.
