CSL postponed due to coronavirus as ex-EPL stars seek England return
Chinese Super League season postponed indefinitely due to deadly Coronavirus, which has claimed at least 170 lives as former Premier League players want England to return ahead of the transfer deadline.
A number of top former Premier League stars are currently plying their trade in the country, including Yaya Toure, Marouane Fellaini, Marko Arnautovic, Paulinho, Mousa Dembele, Odion Ighalo, Salomon Rondon, Graziano Pelle, and Oscar.
According to Daily Mail reports that the Chinese Super League was due to run from 22 February to 31 October has now been suspended indefinitely but a new starting date for the season has not yet been announced.
However, Chinese health authorities have said there were 7,711 confirmed cases in the country as of 29 January and infections have also spread to at least 16 other countries with the 2020 World Athletics Indoor Championships, due to be held from 13-15 March in Nanjing, have been pushed back 12 months after World Athletics sought advice from the World Health Organisation.
Some of the league’s biggest names have instructed their representatives to explore exit routes out of China ahead of Friday night’s transfer deadline.
